With one or two tweaks you can double the number of people you are converting into customers.
I’ll give you a minute to let that sink in. While this may seem like a bold statement, we have seen it in action on a number of occasions. There are so many factors that go into making your website a success that often you miss one small step and that has a knock-on effect. So how do we pinpoint those missing or broken elements? The answer is Google Analytics. By installing Analytics we are able to drill down on a number of areas of your website and find out what is working and what is not working.
Conversion funnels are a great feature on Google Analytics. They allow us to create a path that we would like users to follow and then lets us measure how effective that conversion funnel is. For example, we would like the customer to add a product to their basket, then proceed to the checkout counter, enter their shipping address and select a shipping method and then finally make payment. In Analytics we can spec each of those steps in our sales funnel and then see where we are losing interested customers. It may be that your checkout process is overly complicated or that the payment gateway you selected is not the right one for you, but you will never know without using something like Google Analytics.
